Lyrical, Contemporary, & Hip Hop
Junior Lyrical, Ages 9-12
Lyrical Dance blends the technical foundation of ballet with the freedom and fluidity of modern dance. Characterized by sustained movement, expressive musicality, and dynamic use of space, lyrical dance emphasizes smooth transitions, sweeping motion, and nuanced changes in direction, level, and energy.
Set to emotionally rich music and meaningful lyrics, this style encourages dancers to communicate genuine feeling through movement while developing artistry, musical interpretation, and expressive performance skills. Lyrical dance is an excellent complement to ballet training and is best studied concurrently, as it builds upon ballet technique while fostering both technical excellence and emotional depth.
Senior Lyrical, Ages 12-18+
Lyrical Dance incorporates elements of ballet and modern dance, emphasizing softer and slower movements with sustained energy and utilizing spatial designs with strong but smoother changes in direction or height. This form of dance uses highly emotional music and powerful songs that require more expressivity from the dancer. Classes in Lyrical Dance are a great compliment to the study of ballet and should be taken concurrently with ballet. Lyrical Dance focuses equally on physicality and emotion.
Adult Lyrical Dance, 18+
For those Adults and older teens that want to work in a Lyrical and Contemporary dance form, Adult Lyrical Dance will incorporate softer and slower movements with sustained energy and utilizes spatial designs with strong but smoother changes in direction or height. This form of dance uses highly emotional music and powerful songs that require more expressivity from the dancer. Classes in Lyrical Dancer compliment the study of ballet and focus equally on physicality and emotion.
